Secure Data Destruction
Secure Data Destruction
Where we stand apart is in adopting processes to ensure that our end customers get a product with the assurance of being rigorously tested. Firstly, we never compromise with our customer’s data, so every hard drive that’s re-purposed is thoroughly wiped and checked for integrity in the process. All memory cards, motherboards and power supplies go through a series of tests before an Open Source OS is installed. In fact we issue, a DATA DESTRUCTION Certificate, certifying that all data has been securely deleted. If any of the assets meant for re-purposing fail any of the tests they are automatically recycled.
It is this innovation and high regard for industry standards that make Ecosible a leading provider of secure data destruction, data erasure, and IT asset repurposing. When you choose Ecosible you can re-purpose your IT assets or purchase re-purposed assets with complete confidence!!

Quality Processes
All assets coming in are first weighed, and then their serial numbers are scanned with a bar code reader. This is followed by a clear segregation of machines that have to be repurposed from those that will be recycled. We try to turn on machines before getting started, and sometimes we have to change a memory card or power supply to get things going.
Once we have the machine going, the hard drives are removed so that they can be wiped out separately. All components go through the following checks before they can be re-purposed –
Motherboards
Here we do a quick litmus test check to see if they do work before we subject the unit to extended testing with our BurnIn test.
Memory Cards
Here again we see quickly if they do work. If they are pronounced to be working, they are put through Memtest86; an open source memory test software. All memory cards go through a 3 pass test, a process that can take as long as an hour per card.
Hard Drives
After a quick test check to see if it’s working, every hard drive we repurpose is wiped clean using Darik’s Boot and Nuke, also known as DBAN. The program is designed to securely erase a hard disk until data are permanently removed and no longer recoverable, which is achieved by overwriting the data with pseudorandom numbers. We do a three-pass wipe which conforms to DOD standards.
Power Supplies
These are checked alternating them on machines while we run the tests above.
Repurposed Asset
The asset is re-assembled with checked memory cards, hard drives, and power supplies. A new CMOS battery is installed and the processor area is cleaned. The unit is then functionally checked using PassMark software using their BurnIn Test. BurnIn Test tests the CPU, hard drives, SSDs, RAM, optical drives (CD, DVD and Blu-ray), sound cards, graphics cards (GPGPU, Video RAM, 2D graphics, 3D graphics and video playback), network ports.
Delivery
All units that are repurposed before leaving our premises are logged with respective serial number of the unit, if available, serial number of the Motherboard and that of the hard drive is also tagged. The fully checked unit is loaded with an open source OS or distributed without an OS. We also offer a buyback with certain distributors when the unit repurposed by us does eventually cease to work, in turn making an effort to close the loop—remember our ZERO WASTE motto.
